Electric Vehicle Rally 2001

I left the San Jose area on Friday arriving in San Luis Obispo. SLO his is a College town

Doing a quick tour of the campus ...

... the day before the EVent is beautiful after the rain,

but there are many sources that will change that
04/10/01

Saturday morning was wet, cold, windy, raining, and the EVent signs were blowned down, but with persistance, I found the EVent

JB drove using his gen2 VW pusher.

His pusher was parked separately

rain or shine ...

... the pusher works fine

I caught up the CalPoly crew ...

... they were considering cancelling

JB had tried to run his cord to an outlet, but there were none near the parking lot

Even in the rain ...

... we wanted to see under the hood

We headed over to the display area, where we met the other half of the team staying dry

JB drove his Porsche up onto the sidewalk and into the display area

The covered building front ...

was perfect for displaying EVs

A local Ford Ranger EV came and displayed

Cords were run to use both 120VAC outlets

A SLO Corbin Sparrow driver came ...

He had chosen the 120VAC 30amp NG3 charger

His wife said he could buy the Sparrow ...

if he bought the purple one.

Royce Chow in his
'Divot' nEV

He recently up graded the battery pack

96VDC pack with direct drive

The stealth Escooter was on hand,

with an interesting cabling method

Ready to slip and slide

in the rain

A southern California gen2 EV1 driver attended (a rare sight)

A 70's citi car is still zipping around SLO

An onboard K&W BC-20 charger

An interesting quick charging port

It has an AC inlet on the passenger side

'Divot' was giving hot-dog rides

12 noon was the end of the show, and people were heading to lunch

You'd be smiling too if you were one of the lucky few EV1 drivers

The sleath scooter was still darting all over the parking lot

1st SLO Bank EV charging is stll on

As I head back I saw the Paseo Robles oil fields feeding the ICE machine

King City has RV access, a good EV recharging spot.
